A Tribute for Bengt Ingvar Persson by Gordon Sanderson

One of the best bits about life is having life long friends. Ben and I met working at the Thomson River tunnel project in 1973. There he was, spraying concrete onto the tunnel walls in his easy going way. It was tough work but Ben made it look simple. Ben lived life to the full, there was no dress rehearsal. He got on with life and showed us how it was done. He was an inspiration. A great friend and a good man. I will miss Ben but am a better man for having known him.

I remember when Libby first met Bengt- such a hunk! His tentative English and Libby glowing. In those early days Ben quoted on house framing jobs with just determination, ingenuity and Libby’s support to back him up. But Ben had ‘it’. An eye for design, and making it work. An inspiration for Sam and a great role model. Thank you Ben for those times over the past 40 years when I’ve turned up unexpectedly, always ready to welcome me. Ben and Libby - soul mates forever.
