What beautiful memories we’ll cherish from this amazing lady our adopted mum when we moved down to Shepparton from Brisbane.
Elizabeth and I will always remember the amazing dinner parties at Ro and George’s house and the introduction to……Wine!
We travelled many 1000’s of kms together in the production van right across this great land. I remember a road trip to Lightning Ridge, with Ro and I waving to the locals, seeing a TV production car in the main street must have been a real treat for them only to find out they were trying to tell us we’ve ripped the entire rear bumper off the production car! What would Ro tell the boss? I’m sure she came up with something very creative!
The writing and producing of special docos was another talent Ro had in her writing arsenal. A brief escape from the 30sec TVC she was able to immerse herself into long form documentary programmes winning a Logie with Ian Cruise for her work on “Autumn Faces”.
We travelled from the foothills of the Snowy to the mouth of the Murray, faced unimaginable horror in the Swan Hill “the night after” toilet incident and shared a slow cruise down the Murray River with Bud Tingwell on “A Grand Old Lady”.
There were always many fun filming adventures to be had and Ro always carried on like a trooper. From brushing her teeth with shampoo in a freezing cabin in the forest to wondering whether we’d end up in the Yarra after nearly destroying a video tape of Franco Cozzo in a giant puddle of water.
Ro was always up for some fun while filming as we dressed up as giant Phalluses for a sex education video, acted in our own commercials and finally the hysterical Macintosh Street Fish and Chip shop “NO SALT” incident. So many laughs and good times.
Our thoughts are with George and the rest of this beautiful family as we celebrate a life well lived.
With all our love,
David & Elizabeth Russell
