GIGGINS – Robert Bruce

1/12/1932 – 9/12/2022

Dearly loved husband of 65 years to Merle.

Cherished father of Bruce, Craig, and John. Father-in-law to Sharon, Jen, and Belinda.

Adored grandfather to Tamara, Mitchell, Georgia; Jacqueline, James; Thomas, Nicholas, Emily and Taylah.

Great grandfather to Louis, Olivia, and Penny.

So dearly loved, so sadly missed.

Will be cherished forever within our hearts.

To my love Robert Bruce.

You gave me all that a husband could give,

You gave me your love and a reason to live.

You’ve been my best friend for so many years,

We shared happy times and also our tears.

There’s no one who means as much as you do,

After all you’ve done for me and all we’ve been through.

So we’ll never be parted, it just cannot be,

For you know I love you and I know you love me.

Sleeping in peace.

Your loving wife.

From Merle Irene,

Life partner of 70 wonderful years.

Now resting with our parents.

Much loved Father, Father-in-law, Grandfather and Great Grandfather

Robert Bruce Giggins (Giggo)

Sadly, passed away on 9th December 2022 aged 90 years young, born 1st December 1932.

What a life well lived you did have, kind, caring and full of knowledge, we are all so better off from talking and listening to everything you said.

Your passion for your family and friends is the stuff of legend. Never a complaint or a whinge as you battled along was heard all the while supporting others.

The Carlton Blues have lost a true follower, but other family will gladly step up.

Farewell old mate thanks for being you your family spirit will live on for generations through stories and laughter, you will never be forgotten, you never could be.

With love and fondest memories always, you will be sadly missed, the family chain has been broken and a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.

Your Son Bruce, Sharon, Tamara, Gavin, Penny, Mitchell, Abbey, Louis, Olivia, and Georgia. xxx

The more enriched a person makes our lives, the harder it is to let them go.

It’s hard not to wish for one more day, one more word, one more chance to tell you we love you.

Saying goodbye Dad, is the hardest sorrow to bear.

Craig and Jen, Jack and Tim, James and Bec.

Robert Bruce Giggins

1932 – 2022

We can no longer see you with our eyes or touch you with hands,

but we will forever feel you in our hearts.

We love you Dad.

Cherished father and grandfather of John and Belinda, Thomas, Nicholas and Taylah, Emily and Jordan and Taylah.

As you would always say when you hung up the phone

“I will leave you in peace”

My deepest sympathy to Merle and her family.

Dearest Cousin Robert,

I’ll miss our catch ups and our chats over the years gone by, a proud man who loved life to the fullest and was devoted to his family, friends, and the Carlton Blues, an endearing man who always made you feel loved and safe, and why a place within my heart is where you’ll always stay.

You brought so much joy into all our lives, and made the world a better place for it.

Rest in peace Ol’ Blue Eyes.

Jenny Elliott

Our heartfelt sympathy to Merle, Bruce, Craig, John and families. Rob was a wonderful man.

Arthur Hollingsworth shared

Dear Merle, and your families,
Rob has been my older cousin throughout my whole life, and whenever we got together we inevitably slipped into recalling our grandparents, 8 aunts and uncles, even more de-facto aunts and uncles who were our Grandparents friends, over 30 cousins and sisters and other kids belonging to friends. We would all assemble regularly for family parties – Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve, Birthdays, Test Cricket Parties, Engagements, Weddings – no wonder family life meant so much to us when we married and developed our own families, and what fun we have had over the decades with all our families getting together. I remember so well our massive Family Picnics at Mother’s Beach, Mornington, with up to 100 of us taking up the whole beach with beach cricket and family fun. In our own ways, we have all carried the banner forward, none more so than you Merle with Rob. You are both in our thoughts today. A life well lived Rob – you will always be remembered Arthur & Gwenda
