JOHNSON (nee COOMBES)

Jo (Josephine)

15/2/32 – 14/8/26

Jo left us at the age of 94, surrounded by her family.

Beloved wife of Blyth (dec.); mother of Felicity, Dee, Sue, Christopher (dec.), Mandy and Tim; Nana to Angus, Jack, Matt, Daniel, Allegra, Max, Grace, Miro and partners; mother-in-law of Alistair and Roger.

Jo was Australia’s first qualified woman town planner, an architect, a groundbreaking demographer and a devoted violin teacher.

She enjoyed playing in her beloved quartet, hosted music and book groups, was a longtime member of U3A and played for many years in the Bendigo Symphony and Zelman orchestras.

Jo was treasured by her extended Johnson and MacLeish families. Her wisdom and philosophical exploration were legendary and she retained her keen mind to the end, scoring 3 in Wordle during her final days.

Thank you to Bendigo Health staff for their exceptional care.

A celebration of Jo’s life will be held later in the year.

Please email the family on jo.celebration@runbox.com to be notified.
