Hugh McRae shared

From Hugh McRae
Jill was my big sister. Together with our sister Mary, we enjoyed many activities and adventures growing up on our farm in Wairoa.
Jill was the first one of us to travel overseas. I was envious of her and couldn’t wait to have the same experiences that she told us about. One of my fondest memories was when I bumped into her at the Bierfest in Munich; she was up to her elbows in rotisserie chicken, fending off the boys who were hell bent on getting their hands on a drumstick or two.
Jill was thorough in everything she did and put her all into ensuring that every detail was just right.
As our parents aged and became unwell, Sharon and I valued and depended on her advice, wisdom and practical help. She didn’t let anyone give her the run around. We will always be grateful.
Jill will always be in our hearts and deeply missed.
All our love to Pete, Matt, Sarah-Jane and Ella.

My sincere condolences to Pete, Sarah-Jane, Ella, Matt, Hugh, Mary, and your respective families. It is a tragedy to have lost one of life’s most beautiful souls so early, and I feel for the sadness you must all be feeling. It was always such a pleasure to share Jill’s company as she lit up the whole environment of which she was a part, and the gap she has left is so unbelievably sad. The one shining light is that Jill’s loving spirit will be forever present in all our lives. Much love, Richard
